Bring on Spring

Saturday it was in the high 50's, Saturday night it snowed about 4 inches. Sunday and Monday it was cold and rainy, today it is sunny and 60's! Welcome to Spring in Boston. But don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! Even one day a week with these temperatures is worth it, so I am loving every minute.

And with the dawn of Spring, I figured it was time for something NEW! As in, my new Canon Rebel XTI! I am sooo excited for this new toy. I've been wanting one for some time now, and yet when I'd go to buy it, I kept hesitating. Well, finally I saw an ad for a sale at Ritz, and I called to ask about the camera and their class schedule. I talked to Willie at Ritz in Hingham (which already felt like a sign because when I think of Ritz I think of Dan's Dad!!), and he said that the sale was technically over but it was still ringing up in the computer so I should come down anyways. That was my sign!

At first I was really worried because every picture I took came out horrible! I was getting really discouraged. All blurry, dark, just mucky. I knew it wasn't ideal to learn in my apartment at night, but what other options did I have?

Well I learned when I went to my first class on the 20th, that it wasn't me (sigh of relief). The camera was set to Auto Focus but it was stuck in Manual Focus mode. The manager swapped out the camera for me, and VOILA--- I can actually take a decent picture.

I am playing with it every chance I get, taking pictures of the most mundane things in my apartment, but its worth it just to try out all of the settings. And I'm looking forward to taking more classes!!!!

And as if that wasn't enough great news- Krissy gave me her telephoto lens for her film Canon Rebel to use because she never uses her camera anymore! I am so excited to have an opportunity to use it. Am thinking my Easter weekend trip to NYC will be a perfect opportunity to practice getting some good shots.

I did an ABC Baby Album for Gen's Baby Shower. I managed to whip this out in about a week and I think it came out really cute. I had a great time working with the more traditional girly colors which I don't often have an opportunity to use.

I also completed a couple LOs about Dan and Me, and some fun bowling photos from Devon and Alison's visit home this Christmas. Will try to post some more pictures soon.
