Yesterday I learned how to DRIVE THE BACKHOE!!!

MUCH
FUN

It started with just helping Dan take off the plow-- which involved backing the backhoe up at one point.

i was thrilled. giddy.

so next dan asked if i wanted to back it up, and move it over to attach the bucket. um yeah!!! of course i would.

then he let me drive it over to the other side of the yard, where the 18 month old pile of decaying trash had been taking up space.

he taught me how to put down the boom to get under the power lines, use neutral, reverse and forward, and manuever the bucket to pick up the trash, which i then scooped into the 30 yard dumpster next to the house!!!

i was definitely loving

every minute of it

and even though it was taking me longer to get the job done than it would have taken dan, he humored me for a very long time and let me continue to scoop up the trash

nothing like the rush of putting the petal to the metal (yes in 1st gear, i know i was going like 4mph) and hitting that pile of crap until it just stopped!

what a rush!

our neighbor gene came over in the afternoon and dan was telling him about my back hoe orientation that morning and proclaimed that i am now officially a redneck

if that means i get to use the powertools that's A-OK :)

finally i gave the driver's seat back to dan who buzzed around about 15 times faster than i could have...

and kris brought will over to see the downed trees for the first time and hang out.

and it was fun letting him hang on and walk back and forth

until he started licking it

that was the end of that!!!!
